In this module, you are learning about the career counseling issues typically faced by the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) population as well as by individuals with disabilities. After establishing a foundation of knowledge of the career counseling issues faced by a variety of ethnic and minority groups in US society, you are now prepared to research and develop a list of journals that publish articles that address the multicultural needs of a specific population. You will also discuss the findings of one of the chosen journal’s articles.
Research counseling journals that publish articles concerning career counseling for individuals with diverse backgrounds (i.e. ethnic groups, gender, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer [LGBTQ] individuals, people with disabilities, etc.). Based on your research, address the following:
- Select five counseling journals that you think provide the most useful information.
- Describe the population on which each journal focuses.
- Review one article on career counseling for individuals with diverse backgrounds from a journal in your list and discuss the article’s findings or recommendations specific to career counseling.
Share your research with your classmates by placing your list of journals in the Shared Documents area.
Your final deliverable will be a Microsoft Word document, approximately 3–4 pages in length, utilizing a minimum of three scholarly references. Your paper should be written in a clear, concise, and organized manner; demonstrate ethical scholarship in accurate representation and attribution of sources; and display accurate spelling, grammar, and punctuation.
